Peekapak may send you an email when a student's check-ins show a pattern that may need attention. This article answers common questions about these emails and the bell at the top of your screen.
About the Concerning Emotions emails:
What emails might I get?
Same-day email (Grades 6–12 teachers). Sent on the day a student in your class has a check-in that may need attention. It has a red "Action needed today" banner and a Priority subject line.
Weekly recap (teachers). A once-a-week summary of how many of your students may need a check-in. It has a calm cyan "Weekly recap" design.
Weekly school summary (administrators, counselors, and wellbeing leads). A once-a-week summary for the whole school.
Each email has a link to the report.
Why doesn't the email say which student it's about?
Peekapak keeps student information private, so emails never include a student's name, and the same-day email doesn't say which feeling was chosen. To see which students may need a check-in, simply click the link in the email and log in.
Several students may need a check-in, but I only got one email. Why?
You'll get at most one same-day email per day. If more than one student needs attention that day, they're combined into one email with a number.
A student had another low check-in, but I didn't get a new email. Why?
Once a student is included in a same-day email, they won't be included in another one for a week. You can still see where they stand in the report at any time.
I teach grade PK–5. Why don't I get same-day emails?
A single check-in from a young child isn't reliable enough to act on the same day. Your PK–5 students who may need a check-in will show up in your weekly recap and in the report instead.
I share a class with another teacher. Do we both get emails?
Yes. Each teacher gets their own emails.
I'm a counselor or wellbeing lead. Why did the link open the whole school?
Counselors and wellbeing leads support the whole school, so the link opens the school-wide view rather than a single class.
About the bell:
What is the bell at the top of my screen?
A bell with a number appears when one or more of your students is at the Urgent level. Click it to see the message "Some of your students may need your support." and a link to the report.
Why don't I see the bell as an administrator?
The bell is only for teachers. Administrators, counselors, and wellbeing leads get the weekly school summary email instead.
Turning off emails and when they stop:
Can I turn these emails off?
No, these emails can't be turned off. If you are receiving too many emails, simply click "Getting too many of these? Let us know here" at the bottom of any email to share your feedback with the Peekapak team.
Will I get an email if none of my students need attention?
No. Emails are only sent when there's something to report.
When will a student stop showing up in my emails?
This happens on its own as the student's check-ins improve. There's nothing for you to mark as done. Learn how this works here.
