Can I add a co-teacher to my classroom?

Adding an additional teacher to your classroom

Written by Ami Shah

Yes! The Co-Teacher feature is available on all Peekapak license types.

Before you begin

Your classroom must already be set up before you can invite a co-teacher. The teacher you want to invite must have an existing account at your school so you can search for them by name or email address.

Steps

  1. Go to the Classroom Settings tab and click the small gear icon on the class you wish to add a co-teacher to.

  2. Select Invite Co-Teacher from the menu.

  3. Search for the teacher by name or email address.

  4. Confirm by selecting the teacher and clicking Invite Co-Teacher to send the invitation.

What happens next

The invited teacher will receive an email and an in-app notification with the option to accept or decline. Their status will appear as Pending in your classroom until they respond.

Once they accept, their status changes to Active, the classroom appears on their dashboard, and they'll have full access to students, lessons, check-ins, and reports.

You'll also notice your classroom card and menu update: a teacher badge showing the number of teachers (e.g. "2 Teachers") appears on the classroom card, and the menu option changes from Invite Co-Teacher to Manage Co-Teachers.

About the Co-Teacher feature

  • All co-teachers have equal permissions. There are no owner or admin roles within a classroom.

  • A classroom must always have at least one teacher assigned. You can leave a classroom only if at least one other teacher remains.

  • Each classroom can have up to 5 teachers in total. This includes the teacher who created the class and up to 4 additional co-teachers.

  • If your school uses an SSO or rostering integration (such as Clever or ClassLink), co-teachers may need to be added manually. Contact Support or your Customer Success Manager to confirm the right approach for your school's setup.
