What are the Peekapak units?

There are 10 core units in Peekapak and each one teaches a different social and emotional learning skill. Our units are: Self-Regulation, Respect, Gratitude, Kindness, Perseverance, Teamwork, Empathy, Honesty, Optimism and Courage.

We also offer supplemental units, which can be used when extra SEL content is needed throughout the year! These include topics of Friendship, Problem Solving, Math Anxiety, and Imagination.

How are the units structured?

Every unit contains 8 classroom lessons and 8 home activities for parents to do with their child. Classroom lessons follow a laddering structure to aid student comprehension

  1. [TOPIC] Introduction: 2 lessons

  2. What is [TOPIC] and why it is important?: 2 lessons

  3. How do we demonstrate [TOPIC]?: 2 lessons

  4. How do we apply [TOPIC] to our lives?" 2 lessons

How to use a Peekapak unit?

Peekapak units were each designed to be completed in a month (over the course of 4 weeks). We recommend teachers complete two lessons per week. Here is a sample schedule for our Self-Regulation unit:
